"And tonight on the evening news..." *All television stations suddenly went black. Every station, across the globe. Then a picture started to fade in of a man dressed in a black suit, pale skin, short black hair, and pupils that held a red tint. This image came slowly to focus, until one could clearly make out the image of Nocrala. And when he started to speak, everyone understood. It seemed that everywhere across the globe, a different language was being spoken, depending on the area.* "Let's get straight to business. This world, is corroding beneath your feet. And nobody has stepped up to find out why. Each day that passes, another man dies, and another hundred men and women join the cause that will change the world." *Nocrala's features were stoic and set, speaking his words without emotion and very calmly.* "Your time to save this world is almost at an end. So this I say to you, actions must be taken in one week's time, or all that you hold dear will disappear." *And then there was static. All stations held static for over an hour before they started to re-appear...*
The week had come and gone, but yet the world seemed to not have changed at all. Yet another threat that had not yielded anything. Or so it had seemed. The silence before the storm, in every essence of the phrase. A storm had rolled into the eastern seaboard, a category 3 hurricane sweeping up the east coast of Florida and moving up Georgia towards the Carolina's. But as the storm ravaged the coastline, power outages spread from the destruction out into the rest of the city. Power facilities were dismantled or destroyed all seemingly at once. Stretching up to New York and Maine, from space it appeared that all of the eastern United States just went black, and it was spreading to the west. But, the scariest part of it all, was the little blips of light that sprung up from random parts of the country, with little comtrails that appeared to follow it upon its path eastward. Before long, the entire country was lost in darkness, and the MAD policies were being enacted across the world... (MAD = Mutually Assured Destruction)
no room for failure. A faint smile ghosted across her thin lips as she stood back up from the explosives sat before her. The sound of rushing and falling water surrounded her here deep within the walls of the Hoover Dam. This was the last of the explosives that needed checked within the U.S. As she looked over the explosives her dark eyes were drawn briefly to the small glass tube that held a bright purplish liquid which swirled eerily around when taped. Another faint smile slid across her lips. She had spent the past few years scouring the world over to find it and harness its dark twisted power. It was a hybrid of the Plague that swept Eastern Europe back in the Dark Ages. She had ordered Spell Weavers, Scientists, and even Bioligists on the project, and what they came up with impressed even her dark mind. The scientists had come to call it the Green Plauge, mainly because the victim's skin turns a dark greenish tint with giant boils lifting from the skin which contantly spewed an even darker green puss. The vistims organs are liquidfied, starting with the stomach and then moving towards the liver, lungs and then finnaly the heart. She was assured that it was a most painful way to die. Turning away from the explosives she chuckled softly as she left the large dam.
The rest of the week went on as scheduled, al lof the explosizes had been placed and set to go off almost instantanious. With the time drawing near, still no answer or reply had been made, the world hadent changed. She had already planed on pushing the button, whether the mortals made an attempt to change or not. As she sat in her office, an enormous monitor set before her depecting an immage of the world. As the seconds clicked closer to the deadline she went through the preliminary checks. Everything was a ready. A smile slowly slid over her thin lips, one that would instil fear into even the bravest of warriors. 'Time for you my precious to go out into the world and spread your love, go forth my sweet chaos and let the world burn' She said softly as her finger pushed down on the button. Her eyes watched with approval as lights, one by one began to go out. The beggining of a new era began now....
"The job is done sir. The entire world has been struck. All that remains are the outlying villages. And we have plans in action for them." Nocrala nodded to the man as he left to continue on with his job. He had not been this happy since the day he had been turned into the wretch he now was. He slowly walked over to the table in the center of the room, the only light lit was hanging right above it, highlighting the global map upon it. Marks were placed all across the globe, upon every major city or transport route. Across the globe, each was a veritable wasteland. But there was a giant circle upon an area in central colorado, near what used to be Denver. The location wasn't far from him but he had no intention of going. He reached into his back pocket for the radio and clicked it on. "Get the survivors towards the rendezvous. Leave those who resist."
****************************
The internet was no longer accessible across the globe. TV broadcasts could only be found by old television sets of people who hadn't gotten ready for the digital switch. Radio was the best form of communication for now. Nocrala sat back in a black leather chair, resting his feet across one of his metal desks made of scrap material. "I know that some of you are wondering why. Why did this happen? Did we deserve this fate to befall us? Oh yes, every one of you. For every man, woman, and child to have died was deserving to the last drop... to the last breath. This world will burn, and there is not a damn thing that you can do to stop it. Look around you, your friends have died, your parents and guardians are gone. And the freaks of the world show to be everywhere. Thats right folks, all those stories you heard of demons... of vampires... of the creatures that live under your bed... are true. Fear not the radiation, for most of you won't survive long to the need... to feed." Then the static would play for an hour before the message would be repeated for the world to hear.
'Fear not the radiation, for most of you won't survive long to the need... to feed.'' *CLICK* The radio was quickly turned off at a signal from Jona who sat in her obsidian throne, her dark eyes scanning through multiple reports spread out on the desk before her. After a few moments she pushed the papers away from her a grin on her thin lips. She had been waiting for that very transmission ever since the first blast went off. Chuckling sofltly she stood and quickly left her command center. It was teeming with Kindred all working on different projects. Things were going far more perfectly than she had hoped. The plauge, first traversing through the main water supplys, after the nuclear blasts the extreme heat had successfully turned the already contagious virus into an airborn contagion. Another soft chuckle escaped from between her lips as she traversed the miles of underground tunels. She had had these tunnels built years ago. There were no lights or others this deep in the tunnels, most of them having collasped years ago, or closed off for dangers of collasp. The air became dank, and if she still had the need to breath she doubted she would have gotten very far. Even her nostrils were offended by the dank smells coming from the deeper tunnels. As she came closer to her destination, she first heard the sounds. Each scream of rage brought a bigger smiler to her lips. She finnaly came to a large reinforced steel door. Multiple dents had been on it from the other side as if somthing had tried escaping. She stood there a moment looking at the door, she had spent countless hours within the chamber before her, using her most talented power. She had killed millions for thier flesh to craft her children, puting what one could only call her dark love to each one. Reaching out a pale hand, as her fingers brushed lightly against the surface she sent a small ammount of her power into the door unlocking it. The large door swung sounlessly open, a soundwave of roaring monsters hit her. They cavern beyong the door spread for miles and was cramed with every kind of monter you could think of. She had read book after book, researched lore after lore, gaining as much knowledge of the mortals fears. She had taken those fears and made them flesh. Using her uniqe power to mold and craft flesh she spent countless years crafting these beasts. Goblins, orcs, ogrea, giants, if it was within a fairy tale you could bet it was somwhere within this cave. As she stepped into the room, the creatures closest to her turned with bloodshot eyes, and gave low gutteral growls. In each of thier creations she had left one thing out, free will. So the most they did was stand there and scream in rage. She began walking further into the cave picking up speed as she went. It was not long until she was little more than a blur as she sped through the milions of monsters. (Celerity 7) Suddenly she stopped, she had finnaly reached the end of the cave. Her sences told her that she was near the surface once more. She smiled again as she lifted her hand out towards the cave wall. A tiny black ball of energy appeared in her hand, tiny lightnings poping outward. Grunting softly she threw her hand outward, an instant later bright sunlight slowly filtered thourgh the smoke into the cave, Jona quickly took a few steps back, muttering softly. At her feet dark shadows had formed almost as a shield against the sunlight which was still feet away. Paying no more heed to the outside world, she turned her attention back to he swaming mass of monsters in the cave. Closing her eyes she began concentrating, building her power within herself. Slowly she made a connection with each and every creature in the cave, it took hours, she had lost track of time some time ago. Finnaly though it was time. She had postioned herself to the side of the entrance hidden within shadows before she had began. And now it was time. She could feel the connection with each creature, it was hard not to lose herself in thier one thought track...to kill. Grunting softly, she felt her knees go weak, she had done it. She had given the creatures free will, as a tidal wave would the creatures swamed through the cave exit completly ignoring Jona who stood dazed in the corner. It took some time for her to regain her composure, and when she did her eyes open widdened at the sight before her. Alot of the creatures had already been slain by the others. They were all still swaming out of the cave into the world and she could only smile. 'Go my babies and kill...burn the world..and let chaos spread..' A moment later she stood back within the tunnels (ShadowStep). Her knees went weak again and she stumbled, a hand going to her hand. It had been days since she had last slept, and the thirst was not helping maters eithers. Growling softly she headed back towards the command center to order the collasp of all of the tunnels as well as the relocation of the command center, it was to close to where she released her babies. Sitting once more in her throne, a servant imediatly brought her a large goblet filled with sweet Vitae. 'Send a message to Nocrala, the monsters the mortals fear are now loose upon the world, it will still be a few weeks before they begin breeding and still months before they spread overseas' With one long swig she finnished the goblet she held it out wishing more. After twenty more goblets had been consumed was her thirst final sated. Standing once more, she left the room intending to take a good long rest.
The Third City
The entire state of Florida was nothing more than a black sandy waste-land, massive lightning storms an every day occurance. Gritty sand, as black as tar covered the entire region for miles in every direction. Monsters and mutated abominations roamed the black sands, attacking any and everything they came across. It was chaos in its most basic form, It felt like home to Jona. The roar of the oceans waves crashing into the rocks along the coast assaulted her sences, a faint grin dancing along her lips as she listened to the sad melody of the sea. Dark, almost black eyes opened to stare out at the ocean. She stood high on a cliff on coast overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Light mist sprayed across her pale face as she stared out into the horizan. She could feel the island sitting out there, waiting to be revealed. Hidden for almost ten years with ancient and powerful magics from the mortals just off the coast Florida sat a small island that had thought to have sunk into the sea years ago. On that Island rests The Third City. Jona had began its construction years ago, spendings billions upon billions of dollars sparing no expence. Hers and Nocrala's servants numbered in the thousands, Kindred, Demon, and even thousands of mortals worked for Black Rose. All those that worked for them had been on that island hidden from the world. Another smile ghosted along her thin lips. Behind down below the cliff sat a small carraige that was led by two strong horses. A large group of Kindred Stood miling about, waiting for thier Queen to finnish her buessness. Closing her eyes once more she began to pull power into herself. She pulled power from the land, air, ocean and spirit realm using her dark arts of Kuldunic Sorcery. She even pulled on her link to the Abyssal plane, filling herself with dark abyssal energies. She also pulled from the Kindred behind her as well as from her beast within filling herself with dark vampiric energies. It felt as if her skin was being flayed. Her entire body burned with the power that resonated from her. Waves of power shot outward from her body, tiny bolts of lightnings zipping out from her hair, and body. Dark rolling storm clouds began to gather in the sky, black and purple lightnings lighting the night sky. Any demon or being with the proximity of mind enough to know the thread of magic or the Abyss would be able to feel the power surge anywhere from three hundred miles away. She felt as if every nerve of her body had been burned out, the incredible ammount of power coursing through her body, she felt as if she could destroy the world. A soft laugh floated through her mind at the thought. Why destroy it, when you can watch it burn? The waters around the Island began to swirl then, dark shadows appearing along the waters edge. The shadows began to grow and swirl, faster and larger they went, with no apparnt stop in sight. The surge of power only grew along with the growing wall of black shadows. It took her nearly four hours to finnish, a massive wall of black swirling clouds stretching for miles to the east and west. A black shadowy dome encasing the entire island, protecting the city inside from the dangers of the world. Before she completly collasped unconcious she muttered softly 'In Honor of our Kindred Heritage, this Third City shall stand as a safe haven to all Kindred of the land. ' She then fell forward unconsious, the Kindred that had been standing behind her rushing forward to care for thier Queen. She had succeded in creating a wall that would protect the city from fallout, and the monsters of the world. A city run by magics, a city for the damned.
