Omiya Amisaki: The Nagah

As a young girl, Omiya Amisaki was unaware of her potential. Born in the form of Balaram, she thought that she was human for quite some time. There were, of course, indications that she was different, but nothing so shocking as the fact that she was a Nagah.

Let's start at the beginning. When Omiya was born, she was an unwanted and accidental child. Her parents were from different cultures, different parts of the world, and different backgrounds. Most notably being the fact that her father got caught up in an international slave trade. Not knowing what to do with the baby, Omiya's mother gave her to her father, who inevitably gave her to one of the "slave owners" that he knew. Washing his hands of the child's existence, Omiya was left to be raised by men and women no more fit to be parents than Omiya herself. As she grew older, she became one of the favorites of her "Master", but when some teenage attitude problems began to crop up, she was inevitably passed around from person to person.

By the time she reached the age of seventeen, she was living in Asyut, Egypt. She had been taught to speak several different languages, and had been passed around at least twelve times over the years. Her last Master, by the name of Aidan, had a fondness for branding his "property", as did others. None of the other brands seemed to take too well to Omiya's skin, though to this day, Aidan's mark remains on her upper right shoulder. He took great pains to make sure that she and everyone else knew that she belonged to him. Unfortunately, by this time, Omiya did not get along with too many people. There was something about her that was unnerving. Perhaps the lack of expression on her sweet face, or the way she always seemed to know more than anyone ever told her. So fed up with the world, Omiya had stopped responding entirely to her Master, as well. When he called for her, she would not answer. When spoken to, she would not answer. She refused to do anything she was asked. Frustrated, Aidan took it upon himself to punish her.

Locked in a cage outside in the hot sun and left for days, Omiya thought that surely Aidan would let her die. No one stepped in to help her. She had begun to pray loudly to the gods she believed in by the fourth day, curled in the center of the cage too small for her to do much more than kneel, bent over. The daytime was excruciating because of the heat... But it was so cold at night that she had begun to almost wish for sunrise. Perhaps then it would finish her off quickly. Little did the young girl know, but during the fourth night she would shed her first skin; an excruciating and terrifying process that she thought that she had, in fact, died and was making some sort of transition to a new life. This assessment was perhaps more accurate than some. She ended up shifting all the way to her vasuki form, the form of a Saharan sand viper, and escaped her prison. Exhausted, hungry, and thirsty, the Nagah made her way across the desert alone until she found water, traveling as fast as she could possibly manage. Aidan never did figure out what happened to her.

Not three months later, Omiya was approached by a young man by the name of Badru when she had been caught stealing food from a local bazaar. Thinking her luck had run out, she turned tail and ran through the crowds as fast as her young legs could carry her. Little did she know that Badru was much faster than she was, and could essentially walk through walls. The young man more or less materialized in front of her, whisking her away to what she would soon learn to call her Nest; a small, close nit group of Nagah that tried their best to explain things to Omiya. She found a family in her Nest, which at the time consisted of Badru, Wadjet, and Abasi. Though Abasi died a few months after Omiya was introduced to the Nest, She will always remember him with a small, circular tattoo at the back of her neck in the shape of a snake.

By the time Omiya reached the age of 25, she was a very successful hunter, renowned amongst her people for being one of the best, though perhaps one of the most unorthodox. Nagah, by nature, are not very emotional creatures. At least not in the way that humans think of emotions. And Omiya, though she is not very emotional by human standards, was an anomaly to the Nagah. The Nagah equivalent to a "drama queen", she let her emotions more readily show, and she often reacted as if she were a Garou, her rage worn close to the surface of her personality. Badru and Wadjet soon learned to make excuses for their young nest-mate. "She is a Kartikeya, after all."

The years she spent with badru and Wadjet were clearly the happiest of her troubled life... Though in the summer just before her 30th birthday, tragedy struck once again. Badru and Wadjet were killed during one of their more difficult strikes against a coven of heavily armed vampires. Omiya was lucky enough to escape, though not at all unscathed. The scars from the bullet wounds still riddle her back, as well as obvious marks from fangs ripping through her flesh.

That night, the city of New Orleans experienced destruction unlike any other. Sent into a depressed rage, Omiya made it her job to destroy anything and anyone in her path... It was a night she would never forget, and one that haunts her still. Though she managed to make friends, and enemies, since the incident, she was never quite the same.

The destruction of most of the world's population by the current fallout was a blessing, in a way. Something Omiya could be grateful for, and an environment she actually thrived within. For a while, she made it her job to save those who could not save themselves... Everything from angels to garou and actually the occasional vampire. Though some people still don't agree with her methods, she tries her best to help those she can, in any way she can.

Currently, the Nagah has made it her job to watch after the residents of a small town dubbed "New Hope", and hopes to be an asset to the community for as long as she can.
