Features

Cruentus Apocalypsis has many different features. Below is a list of the more prominent features you will encounter on our MUD.

ANSI Color

There are 16 colors to choose from. Color is used within the game in the form of codes. You have an escape character then a letter or number to specify the color.

This will show things in colour. Spells will appear in their appropriate colour, and important messages will be highlighted. Your exp (or opponents condition if you're fighting), hp, mana and move are shown in scaled colour. Scaled colour is represented as follows:

 Cyan : Maximum.
Yellow : 75% to just below maximum.
 Green : 50% to just below 75%
 Blue : 25% to just below 50%
 Red : Below 25%

You may also talk in color; the format is like this: the
'escape character' to specify a color is the left handed brace,
following
  {r red {R Red {c cyan {C Cyan
  {g green {G Green {y yellow {Y Yellow
  {b blue {B Blue {w white {W White
  {m magenta {M Magenta {D Black {x default
  {{ { char

Special characters can be accessed using the following
{! = « {= = ¿ {@ = ¥ {a = Ã
{$ = » {d = {^ = ® {f = Ê
{& = © {h = Ï {* = ¤ {j = Ð
{( = ± {k = Þ {) = § {t = ç

{O = Blink
MCCP Compression

MCCP stands for Mud Client Compression Protocol. It compresses data in between your MUD client and the Cruentus Apocalypsis MUD server. Your client then uncompresses the data once it is received. This can cause a significant speed increase, and the effect is immediately noticeable, especially for those who have lower bandwidth.

A number of MUD clients have built in support for MCCP. MUSHclient, RoAClient, zMUD 6 and mcl all have native support for MCCP. Refer to your MUD client's documentation for information on how to set this up in your MUD client.

A small program called mcclient can be used to compress connections to Cruentus Apocalypsis through any MUD client by working as a proxy. Just download one of the following files and then follow the installation documentation. * mcclient binaries for Win32 (Win95, Win98, WinME, WinNT, Win2k) * mcclient source code (for Linux and Win31)

MSSP Support

MUD listings are often out dated and lack accurate information. Verifying that the one submitting a new MUD is a member of the MUD's administration can be quite tedious as well.

The MUD Server Status Protocol seeks to address these issues by providing a transparant protocol for MUD crawlers to gather detailed information about a MUD, including dynamic information like boot time and the current amount of online players. It also makes submitting a new mud entry very simple because it only requires a player or admin to fill in the hostname and port.
